Yesterday we announced our 2007-08 Predict The Score contest rules and prizes and today we're happy to announce more prizes for the GiantsBeat.com Giants Pool. Winning is easy, as long as you know how to pick your players and remember to get your picks in on time! Last year you got to pick new players each game, but we've changed it up a little bit this year. Each week you'll pick one forward, one defenseman and one tough guy. You can't pick the same player in back-to-back weeks and you can't use player as a forward/defenseman and your tough guy. Points System Forwards: Goal 2 Points, Assist 1 Point Defense: Goal 5 Points, Assist 2 Points Tough Guy: 1 Point for every Penalty Minute The scoring system might seem a little more complicated, but it's designed to ensure that the Tough Guy isn't going to be more valuable than any other position. Last season if a player got 15 PIMs in a game, it was nearly impossible to make up those points. We've fixed that - we hope. Now for the good stuff, the prizes. Weekly Winner: Autographed 8 * 10 of your favorite Giant
Season Winner: A Custom Painted McFarlane Figure of any Vancouver Giant (similar to the Cody Franson figure in the photo)
A full set of rules will be posted in the Contests section of the forum. |

With the 2007-08 Western Hockey League season only days away we're proud to announce that we will have two contests for the coming season. Like last year we'll have two contests that will give GiantsBeat members chances to show they know their stuff while cheering on the Giants, all in pursuit of some even better prizes. The first contest is the Predict The Score contest. Each Giants game will have its own thread in the Contests section where you will be able to predict the score. You'll need to pick the winning team and score for the Giants as well as their opponent. The scoring will work a little bit differently this year and it's designed to ensure that everybody has a shot at winning while rewarding those who are active members throughout the season. Here's the scoring system: Correctly Predict the Winning Team: 3 Points Correctly Predict the Giants Score: 3 Points Correctly Predict the Opponents Score: 3 Points If you get all three right for any game you earn a single bonus point for a total of 10 points. Prizes For the Predict The Score contest the prizes are as follows: Perfect Score: GiantsBeat.com T-Shirt * ($10 Value) Monthly Winner: GiantsBeat.com Hooded Sweatshirt ($30 Value) Season Winner: Replica Giants Jersey ($110 Value) *Prize will be awarded only when a player earns all 10 possible points in a game. Tomorrow we'll announce details for the GiantsBeat.com Hockey Pool! |

Vancouver Giants team captain Milan Lucic will also wear the 'C' for Canada at the upcoming Super Series against Russia. The move may not be a surprise to Giants fans or teammates, but with a lack of international experience it will be somewhat surprising to outsiders. Being named 'Captain Canada' continues Lucic's amazing year. In May he was named Memorial Cup MVP after leading the Giants to their first championship. After the eight game series is over Lucic will travel to Boston to complete his first full Boston Bruins training camp. |

Well, as you're more than likely aware, GiantsBeat.com has been down for the better part of the summer. We'd like to apologize to all of our members for this hassle and delay in getting it resolved. Through our hosting company we managed to lose pretty much everything that we'd built over the last year, this includes all the player profiles, the forum and all of the game previews and recaps. Thankfully Shawn has most of the player interviews saved and he'll be posting those shortly. We'll also be adding some exciting new stuff like updated stats, a new roster, the Giants 07-08 schedule and we'll be looking to add a gallery so any of you can add photos from Giants games, practices or when you stalk them at their houses (this is NOT cool). The new forum structure should be up sometime tonight with more content being added on a daily basis. I hope everybody takes the time to re-register for the forums and as always if you have any feedback please pass feel free to email us at any time using
