Hey there Giants fans and GiantsBeat members. As you’ve probably noticed things look a little bit different around here right now. Since we launched in 2006 we’ve had a couple of different looks, each new look coinciding with the new season. This new look is meant to properly reflect what the site has become – THE home for Vancouver Giants fans to come, meet and talk Vancouver Giants hockey.

Rather than focusing on front page news stories, we’re going to use the front page to promote what you, the fans, are talking about. Every time you come to the site, you’ll see that the rotating pictures on the front page have changed. Sure, we’re also going to use that space to promote our contests, recent Giants news and of course, the bus trips, but for the most part it’s all about you guys.

In the past year we’ve seen tremendous growth in our membership and the activity of those members in the Fan Forum is what keeps this site humming all year long. But the new look is only part of what GiantsBeat has in store for the 2008-09 season. In the coming days we’ll be announcing complete details on our bus trips, new contests and prizes for GiantsBeat members as well as new staff members and some more new features for the website.

So, on behalf of Shawn and myself, I’d like to thank you guys for making this site what it has become. Without the support of you guys, we wouldn’t be able to offer things like bus trips or find ways to work directly with the team as we have. Shawn has been diligent in keeping the forum running hot while I’ve been working behind the scenes to deliver this new look and I’m extremely grateful for the time he has put in since training camp started!
