The Vancouver Giants tonight will play the first of three games this weekend as the Seattle Thunderbirds roll into town. The Giants should be smarting after dropping a 4-1 decision Wednesday night in Kelowna. The Giants had avoided a regulation loss in the previous 11 games but gave up three third period goals to the Rockets. The T-Birds currently sit in 6th place in the Western Conference at 17-12-5-1 and are coming off of a 6-3 win over the Portland Winterhawks on New Year's Eve. Seattle is led offensively by Bud Holloway who has 17 goals and 20 assists in 35 games played this season. Jacob DeSerres should get the start in goal for Seattle as normal their normal number one goalie, Riki Helenius, is still away at the World Junior Championship tournament. DeSerres is 9-5-0-1 with a 2.09 GAA this season. Seattle will also be the opponent in the Giants' second game of the weekend as the two teams, as well as a bus full of rabid Giants fans, makes it way down the I-5 for the Saturday night tilt. The final game this weekend goes Sunday at the Pacific Coliseum when the Kamloops Blazers roll into town. That game is a 5 pm start. |
