Giants Take Game 1 in Spokane

The Vancouver Giants got goals from Spencer Machacek, Evander Kane, Mario Bliznak and Michael Repik in a 4-1 victory in Game 1 of the Western Conference semi-final in Spokane Friday night.

After a scoreless first period the Giants scored twice in the second period and twice in the final frame. Brent Regner had three powerplay assists for Vancouver.

Trevor Glass was the only player to score for the Chiefs. Tyson Sexsmith made 26 saves for the win and was named the game's first star.

The Giants were 2 for 6 with the man advantage while Spokane's only goal came on the tail-end of a two-man advantage.

Game 2 is Sunday at 6 pm.
