Triston Grant. Mark Fistric. Brett Festerling. Spencer Machacek. Jon Blum. And now you can the name of Lance Bouma to the list of Vancouver Giants captains.

Bouma was named captain for the 2009-2010 season Thursday as Giants rookie camp got underway in Ladner.

“Lance is one the few remaining players from our Memorial Cup win in 2007; he has played in many big games in his Giants career, and will continue to lead our team through his experiences both on and off the ice,” said head coach Don Hay.

Last season was a breakout season for the Calgary Flames draft pick as he recorded nine goals and 16 assists in only 48 games after injuring his hand. He missed almost seven weeks of action.

Also considered for the "C" was Craig Cunningham. Bouma and Cunningham both golfed with Don Hay during the annual team golf tournament on Wednesday afternoon - a sign that both were being considered for the role of on-ice leader. Cunningham is expected to wear an "A" throughout the season.
